I have been playing this in my car since I bought it a couple of weeks ago & was looking forward to hearing it on my system at home Rega Planet,72/Hicap/140/Keilidhs , what a dissapointment ,I had to have the volume control way past 12 o/clock before there was any impact ,is just being in the confines of a car the makes it seem more immediate?.....Jim

Humm not sure I total agree with you.

I agree that this album hasn't got the wall of sound, bloated, overpowering bass that is often presented in modern recordings.

But it has a production that means you can actually hear the individual instruments, and can distinguish bass guitar notes from the drums etc. It also seems less compressed than many.

So maybe not the impact, but a much preferable production for me!

Sounds ok to me at home too... Vocals are not as forward as some especially on the opening track but other than that it sounds good to me...

I bought this and returned it. It just seemed like a (very) pale imitation of the Gang of Four to me. If anyone does not have GoF's 'Entertainment' album you should give it a go. Funny to think that 'At Home He's a Tourist' was banned from TOTP for the line 'the rubbers you keep in your top left pocket' back in 79.
