Loudspeakers in order to wait....

Posted by: Charlezz on 04 January 2002

I just received my CDX in replacement of my Cd3.5/Hicap.
My system is now CDX/Nac102/Supercap/Nap180.
My dream system would be :
CDSII/XPS/Nac52/Supercap/Snaxo/Supercap/6*Nap135/NBL.
I still have very bad loudspeakers (Siare) and i think it would be a good step to change these for better loudspeakers, just in order to wait i can buy NBL.
Which loudspeakers do you advice?

THANK YOU.

Charles

If you intend heading down the Naim route them perhaps Credos or SBLs.

Professional Monitor Company

Or PMC for short. Try and find a dealer who has a well run-in pair of FB1 floorstanders to show you.

I've owned a pair for a couple months now on the end of a Naim stack. One of the best kept secrets in audio IMHO...

Good luck with it.

Only my opinion but...

FB1s are too damn slow - musical phenomenon just seems to pass them by...

JM Lab 816s, Rega ELA 2000s, or Naos, Credos, or Allaes would be much better.

If you really want to hear what that CDX can do, change your 102 for an 82.

Personally, I use Densen amps - they work very well with the CDX, and do great PR&T and tune.

Oh, they can focus an image as well! cool

It's always a nice day for it wink Have a good one! smile
Steve.
It's good to get back to normal. wink

I have a Nac102/Supercap , not "jusy" a Nac102...
I'm very interested in s/h SBL or Allaes.
But how much does it cost??
in €? wink razz big grin

Oh Gawd!! Not the friggin' Naos spiel again

Steven... GET A GRIP!

FB1 only slow during run-in. When that momentous event happens they START to time then..

Not B4 OK?

OK, understood!

I would love to hear a run-in pair, as I always like to have an open mind.

BTW, do those plinths make a difference?

I heard them without.

Oh, and one last thing: keep yer hair on mate - no need for the caps lock key! wink

confused

The 82, or the Allaes?

BTW, 1.6 € = £1 wink

In Pounds Sterling, IIRC, the 82 is around the same price as a CDX @ c.2400, and the Allaes are 1950.

Allaes: 1950 pounds or euros????

Are the Allaes "new" SBL or "new" Credos or anything else?? Are they better than SBL?
ps: i don't need Nac82......
I already have the supercap , so i'll directly jump to Nac52, after changing my loudspeakers and my CDX (for a CDS2)........

Steve... sorry mate, hangover!! Bit tetchy this a.m.

Sure the Naos luverly really.

Redeye cool

No worries mate!

Charles

Yes, I also want a CDS2 in the not too distant future.

I can see the logic for going directly to a 52.

Unfortunately, the price is in Sterling, and not Euros.

It's about bloody time we adopted the Euro and stopped getting left behind.... [running for cover]

If you don't do a dem and quick, you'll be up all night wondering what could have been.

You'll even forget about those NBLs.

Bloody pre amps

Richard
Couldn't agree more. Amazing how pre's cop the blame for practically everything on this forum isn't it?

Not sure I agree on the FB1 tho' but I guess the proof as always is in the pudding eek

That is because the speakers often cop the blame for things going wrong further up the chain - like at the pre, or at the source.
