DVI-HDMI cable

Posted by: Richard Adams on 14 January 2007

Hello all,

I'm finally getting around to wall mounting my Toshiba 32" LCD, this has an HDMI input. My DVD player has DVI output and will be 2m or so from the screen. Can anybody recommend a suitable DVI-HDMI cable so I don't need an aadapter?

Cheers

Richard,

I'm in the same situation as you. However, I ran a HDMI-HDMI cable and then used a HDMI-DVI adaptor.

In the future, things will solely be HDMI and so my adaptor will go away, but if I'd put in a HDMI-DVI cable now, I'd need the adaptor in future.

I've used the BetterCables cable you can get from Mark Grant cables, mine's 8m long.

I got an Ixos DVI to HDMI lead from hificablesandaccessories.co.uk very reasonable price and quick delivery. There site shows 1M and 5M lengths but they might be able to get other lengths to order.

Had a look on hificables and prices vary from £45(QED) to £145 (Wireworld). Does the higher cost reflect in increased picture quality or will the QED do? Big Grin

I tried both HDMI and component between my samsung 32inch HD lcd and my Samsung upscaling DVD player. I found that for dvd, the Component was better. This may just mean the upscaler in the tv is better than in the dvd. I have no HD source's yet, but I assume that these will be much better than the upscaled dvd.

Any thoughts.....
