Vampire weekend

Is it worthwhile?Or is it music for teenagers and young people? They are from Brooklin and the music is pop experimental as the same way like Animal Colective,I think!Like many of us ,I don´t want to spend my money in cd´s that I can only hear a few times!

I bought the album last week. It is currently my most played album. And I don't think I qualify as either a teenager or young person.
I hope they tour europe soon.

I'm glad someone likes them, cos when I saw them do a few numbers on 'Later' the other week - including the incredibly pretentious 'Oxford Comma' (named after an obscure particle of English grammar and having nothing to do with it) I thought they were a nerdy little college band. Sorry.

Well,I heard this afternoon the album again,It is the usual band project ourdays, bands that appear and for two or three years most people(usually College people) buy it,like her music and then other band emerge and so on,because taste´s are always changing ourdays. With Internet and My Space,You Tube most bands are influenced by each other, and new projects appear! But I´m buying the album tomorrow , it is the kind of Pop Alternative that I like !

I have got to listen to Oxford Comma from your description, James, it sounds something I'd really enjoy.

Think they're okay. I am at a loss to know what's wrong with nerdy college bands mind.
They make a link between African High Life and The Smiths. It's not a gap I knew I had in my collection but I suspect the second album could be very interesting.
The first one is patchy but generally worth a listen.

the girlfriend just added vampire weekend to our collection, we have been enjoying it for a bit now. Anyone heard of "black mountain" or "The National"? Just a thought for listening.

I've been enjoying Vampire Weekend since it came out. Sure it's disposable but it makes me grin. I love a bit of african guitar anyway.
Rega-The National: Boxer is a cracking album, dark and grumbling vocals but subtle work that really grows on you. I just bought 'Alligator' which is fine but perhaps less satisfying overall.

Agreed. I like it a lot. At least it sounds like they're enjoying themselves!
