Fight Club

I started this thread to have a place for the rude, crude and inadvisable.
So come up with a barbaric topic that will anger everyone, or just fling a few snide insults at the unsuspecting.
Got manners? Leave them at the door.
I know you have it in you :-)

I always felt that simply being able to hear basic meter and tonality didn't require endless days of study, just knowing what it sounds like. If it's pointed out to you, you hear it.
I also feel hearing it adds great enjoyment to the music, the same way learning new words can increase your enjoyment of reading.
Finally, I think learning to hear basic meter and tonality is as far as you need to go as a listener. It makes the music reveal more color and emotion.
As a listener, being able to put names to things has no value. But hearing them is a different matter.
It's a matter of appreciating something for what it is, and what it's made of. Like stone to a sculptor and paint to the painter, meter and tonality are the stuff music's made of.
Part of what I enjoy in visual art is the use of materials. Why should music be any different?
I guess I need a nasty bit in here to maintain the spirit of the thread.
Who the hell are you to paint anyone feeling different from you as pendantic, arrogant and useless? You make a virtue of being ill informed. It doesn't come across as a love of music, or anything else.

I am not having ago at you here man.
But this is just turning into one of the same many threads of yours on how you listen to your music in another room.
Stu
Munch, if it wasn't for your posts that complain about my posts, I wouldn't get to read any of your posts at all.
I can't recall a single instance when you had anything to contribute.
That tells me a lot about you.

You are actually both very dull in your squabbles, in fact you are so dull you turn my thoughts to Anne Widdecome's underwear and that is bloody dull.
If you are going to squabble, can you best raise your game a little.
Regards
Mick .. offering advice in a spirit of helpfulness and counsel.

Hence the word "tend".
Do you like critics?
Are you enjoying your thread?

Richard, please lock and delete this garbage. It's embarrassing.

"tend" is weak cover.
There have been some great critics.
and no, the thread is pretty much a bust.
Lock and delete wouldn't offend me in any way.

wHAT????? What were you trying to achieve here? You ask for a no-holds-barred flamefest, and you have achieved that.
Now you want your own silly thread locked?
Thats like starting a fight and then stating, "no punching in the face".
You are a strange man Mike.

I had hoped for a flamefest, but it didn't happen.
Did I miss something?

I see that you have been playing while I have been away at work.
I wish you would behave when I am not here to keep an eye on you all!
But seeing as you have been playing without even asking me to join in, then I am going to sulk and be deliberately nice to everyone on this thread!
Best wishes to you all! George

Could the thread at least be renamed 'Handbags Club'
Posted on: 29 October 2009 by mikeeschman
I guess flaming is not much fun, when it's not ruining a good thread :-)
Posted on: 29 October 2009 by stephenjohn
I am not really sure what is meant by flaming but it seems that there is an attempt to be provocative with a nasty undercurrent in this thread

Provocative, yes (but not very). I don't detect the nasty undercurrent. I've seen much better examples of a nasty undercurrent.

If you want to read high quality venting of spleen, that's often laugh out loud funny, you really need to check out the "Pub Car Park" section of the forum moderated by our very own Polar Bear. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link, but Google hi-fi wig wam and you'll find it.
Warning: some of the humour is not for the faint-hearted!

The vote should only be given to those who have served in HM Armed Forces.

If you want "robust" humour, Google "Army Rumour Service NAAFI bar".
As it says, "Look some of the stuff here is really quite nasty. If easily offended DO NOT ENTER"...

Mike already has a Flaming thread on the go.
Pointed at me by the way.
This is his fight club thread.
The man has lost the plot imo.
Stu
OK Munch, I am being an asshole with you, but would like to stop.
Sorry.
Fresh start?
