Dustin has to fight his way through the semi-finals next Tuesday [20th May 2008] and then [hopefully] onto the final on Satyrday 24 May 2008].

I'm still trying to find out what this man was doing to Dustin.

Dustin's big semi is on BBC3 tonight at 20:00.
Hilariously Radio Times describe Dustin as controversial!
After Lordi how can that be?
Go Dustin Go!

Of course, I'm looking forward to a evening of silly TV, but I wonder if anyone shares my disillusionment at the contest after we were so cruelly robbed of our richly deserved nil points in the closing minutes of last year's contest.

I'm with you all the way there, Tam.
I don't know if anybody has noticed, but I think there are distinct voting patterns whereby, for instance, Cyprus always votes for Greece, and the Balkans vote for each other as do the Scandinavians. I've been studying very closely over the last 40 years and I'm convinced it happens to our cost.
I know others say we don't win because we simply don't have the quality of song that we once did - e.g Boom Bang a Bang and Jack-in-a-Box, or artists of the calibre of Kenneth McKellar, but I still think it is a conspiracy that stops us achieving our rightful place.
We shall see after tonight's extravaganza.

I agree - there is clearly something fishy going on. Perhaps we should have separate entries from the various UK countries, though, thinking about it, I'm so sure that would help.

Bosnia & Herzegovina entry just now was weirdly good.

Elvir Lakovic Laka represented Bosnia-Herzegovina and sung his own composition PokuĊĦaj with Mirela. Elvir is famous in the Balkans and one of the most popular artists in Bosnia-Herzegovina and sure to get votes from Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia.

Personally I think we should pull out of the competition.
Maybe holding on to that large slab of funding we pump into Eurovision we might get better programmes on the BEEB.

Sometimes it happens and I just have to admit I was wrong. I could see no evidence of countries merely voting for their neighbours and the UK entry definitely succeeded in achieving our rightful place.
Well done Belgrade for a great show with marvellous half-time entertainment - great band who would've given Bellowhead a run for their money, well done voters around Europe by not simply voting for neighbouring countries and judging each entry on its unique merits and well done Russia for deservedly winning with such a great song and apologies that the UK didn't give it twelve points - I would have voted, but I couldn't find my phone in all the excitement.
Surely this is what 21st century music is all about.
I understand the whole show is available on DVD too.

You must have been watching a different results show to me then. It was clearly polical voting. The results have nothing to do with singing ability.

I think ROTF was having a laugh.

.....Ok so it's only a tragically past it's time "song" contest but ....isn't just a tad disturbing that so many countries are so "politically" obsessed (and plain childish) that they can only vote for their neighbours? ....
...Jeez ....sorry to sound like a condescending Brit but (ok I'll be a condescending Brit) truly it appears that only GB and a handful of other European countries have any insight into what the word "fair" means ...imagine being so pitiful that the awarding of points to geographical neighbours during a lousy pop music contest is of such obvious importance?
.....No wonder so many of these countries have so many problems in the real world ....they're all rather dim aren't they?

I think ROTF was having a laugh.
Indeed. ROTF employs a very subtle but extremely clever touch of irony in his humour.
