DVD5 overheating?
Posted by: NaimTim on 17 October 2008
Sorry if this has already been covered elsewhere... have had a DVD5 for a few years now, and have always been concerned how hot the body of the machine gets, especially on the underneath. Not warm you understand, but really hot, almost too hold to hold on the underneath. The fan seems to run as and when required Is this temperature typical, and if not what is the possible cause and remedy please?
The temperature doesn't seem to affect either the picture quality or sound, both of which are tremendous.

There's definite vibration coming from the body when in use as well the heat... should I be worried, or is unwarranted paranoia setting in?

When I had my DVD5 it did used to get very warm, even in standby mode. I also noticed vibration, sometimes with certain discs when reading the disc menu this was bad enough to be audible. Provided your DVD5 has plenty of ventilation space around it I don't think you need worry.

This is probably normal.
The DVD5 internals sink heat through the case, thus they do get quite warm. The fan should take care of any excess temperatures.
The vibration issue can be due to the discs, but its not usually excessive
