Kind of Blue

I wonder if someone more knowledgable than me can help? On KOB the liner notes give the impression that Aderley only plays (or 'lays out' as they say) on the one track. This puzzles me, as when listening to the album you have a saxaphone coming out of each speaker in turn. Or by 'laying out' do they mean that Aderley takes a back seat and lets Coltrane take the reigns?

Not very knowledgeable, but they do mean that Adderley takes a back seat and lets Coltrane take the reigns. Have you heard Cannonball's Something Else? Sometimes I think I prefer it to KOB.

I suppose I kind of answered my own question but thanks for confirming the situation with this album. I do have 'Somthin' Else' and great though it is, I think KOB has it. Good point from Hock with regard to their resepective playing. They are so skilled that they tend to play outside of the instruments normal range, thus the high notes of the tenor converge with the alto and vice versa.
