record Shops in Toronto

Posted by: Malcolm Davey on 01 October 2001

Having discovered a fabulous record shop in Vancouver on my last visit to Canada I am now due to go to Toronto......is there a good hifi and more importantly record shop there...especially vinyl

My system is now back up and following a chimney rebuild this week I need to get both TV and VHF aerials installed....any recommendations in Surrey/Hants areas or is it the £1,000 plus that getting Ron Smith over from Luton may well cost?

You could go to:
- Sam the record man on Yonge street near the corner of Yonge and Dundas
- HMV near by
- Some few old and small shops selling used and rare records up north of Yonge street around 6 subway stops from Yonge & Dundas station (I will get the location for you during this week).

Welcome to Toronto Canada. email me at nguyent@aecl.ca we can go around in the weekend if you like I will show you the city.

There are a few interesting shops for used vinyl on Queen Street West, between University and Spadina. There's also a good shop for dance music on Yonge street, on the east side just north of Dundas. I believe it's called "Play de Record".

I'm not a real expert, though, since I haven't bought "new" vinyl for over about 15 years. wink When it comes to the black stuff, all of mine is gleaned from garage sales and such.
