Not really a discussion but never the less - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds on JR tonight.

I thought he was superb on JR tonight, really liked the track, first time i've heard it. I tend to have a love hate relationship with his music, much of his early stuff passes me by but lots of his recent work of the past 6-7 years is bordering genius....

I forgot about it, have to use iplayer.
Yes, I think he is improving with age. He is someone I will have to see in concert one of these days.

He was good. I haven't got any of his stuff yet.

Only got into his stuff recently but "no more shall we part" is definitely a desert island disc
Abattoir blues is also a superb album although of dubious sonic quality
I now have all his other stuff but a lot of it I find rather patchy with moments of pure genius layered with some rather mundane material

I have a permanent image of Nick Cave burned into what was a very naive and impressionable brain way back at the Reading Rock Festival at some point in the late 80's/very early 90's. He absolutely dominated the stage, performing from a pulpit, dreesed in black with a ruffed shirt and cape and an open bible, like an Outback Hillbilly preacher from Hell - extremely memorable to someone who, up to that point (rather embarrasingly) considered the likes of Y&T or Van Halen to be 'alternative' - that was a real reality slap to what the word 'Cool' was all about...I never looked back- thanks Nick!

I had that experience (amongst others) when i saw Siouxsie Sue at the start of her career - cool, with attitude. That led me to Patti Smith and away I went

I take it the song played on Friday was from the new album Dig Lazarus Dig?
