Jim

Thanks for the warning.

I love '1' and '2' but thought '3' was pants.

Hi JN
I too liked the first one but became bored of it years ago. I heard the second one only about six months ago and liked it more than the first which was why I was looking forward to hearing the 2003 version. Also I caught an interview with M. O. a while back and he was describing what they had been doing and that the 2003 version was nearly ready for release and it sounded interesting (it wasn't).
Regards

I like 1 an awful lot. But only on the original releases (both CD and vinyl)

TB2 again - ok... accidental hearing

Moonlight shadow - a bit weird but a really nice song. The lyrics are easy and thoughtful. Against my other tastes it stands out a little!

I did see a live rendition of the 'bells and that was good. I am apprehensive about the newbie!

I think I'll keep myself open and buy from a shop with a good refund policy.

TB1 One of the ultimate (for me) ear worms. More movements and almost as complex as some better known symphonic works. I have this on 2 LPs (including the recent 180g one), on 3 CDs (the original release, the boxed set on Elements and the fairly recent gold disk remastering) and on a long lost cassette tape made some time in the 1970s on an old Tandberg.

TB2 Similar and derivative of the above. Sqeaky clean production but lacks the obvious loving touch of the original. Still, a very good listen in isolation.

TB3 Cack.. utter cack.

Orchestral TB Inspite of getting slammed by the press at the time, this remains a very credible adaptation of the original, truer to it than TB2 and almost as hauntingly beautiful.

Live TB (on the Exposed album)Great live reworking of the orignal, with a full orchestra in the background. MO's lead guitar riffs are largely harmonies of the original one; for those who know every wrinkle of the original this is a very thought provocative version. Others may disagree, but they are probably wrong.

HI
Heard 2003 today and liked it, not as good as '1' and '2' but a worthwhile buy. I have '1' on CD (HDCD) and LP.
Have you heard Tr3sLuns (VERY GOOD).

Twelveeyed Fish!?, where did you get your 180g
version of TB1?.
i've got the skinny vinyl version......
Branson's empire was founded on this release, i remember sometime in the early seventies Virgin's 1st shop in Argyle St , a wee poky place.
