CD Copy Protection Enquiry

How can you tell if a CD is copy-protected?

It may mention it on the cover art - or, usually, 10 seconds into each track there will be a momentary discontinuity in the sound - that is, if you do not have the updated PIC to deal with this non-standard disk.

A copy-protected disc won't have the Compact Disc logo because it isn't - strictly speaking - a Compact Disc.

I should clarify: I burn CDs from iTunes (in my iBook), and an attempt to make a car copy from the Dark Side of the Moon 30th Anniv. version and from Echoes, both recent Pink Floyd discs, resulted in a CD burn which was louder than usual and a bit distorted. iTunes CD burns usually sound practically identical to the original, except a bit quieter. Any iTunes users want to comment?

Why not use a program like Toast for Mac OSX for burning CD's for the car?

TOAST

Why not, indeed!

Is this a superior program to iTunes, and why? how much $? Tell me more, rackkit...
