I would be interested to see what BR players people might be using to feed analogue in to their AV2's
I am currently using the Denon 3800

i think i'll hang on for Naim to anounce the launch date for their new 3D machine, even if it might cost a tad more than £200 with the viewing Raybans extra........
Cheers

For the Arcam BD Player a 3D upgrade should be available by 2011 : http://hcc.techradar.com/blogs...ls-and-pics-05-07-10

Ive got a pioneer lx70a im looking to upgrade. I see there are a lot of happy Oppo owners on here and just spotted the Oppo BDP-83SE NuForce Edition Blu Ray Player - anyone got this and can comment or recommend something else?

You'll get more answers if you google avsforum and avforums.
Unfortunately this forum doesn't permit direct links in this case.

I cast my vote for the Cambridge 650bd. I'm not using surround sound, just 2 channel into my Supernait. This is my transport for CDs also.
Going on 6 months it's been a great machine for me, no firmware problems or difficulty playing new discs or anything like that.
There are a few reviews on the Cambridge site.
Hi Vaughn - hope you see this - do you connect your 650 via analogue or digital and have you experimented to see which gives the best results? I'm thinking of getting a better Blu-ray player which would feed my SN for music DVDs and occasional CD playback. Using a Sony BDP-s550 at the moment.

hi DT. I have tried both a digital (coax) and analogue connection from the 650bd into the SN. I must admit to my ears the two seem very close. I was able to differentiate the two in a blind test, the SN dac had a slightly better midrange. However, if I owned say a Nait xs I could be happy with the 650bd via analogue.

If you just want excellent picture quality through a big plasma TV and your 552, is there any benefit picture quality wise in spending more tha a couple of hundred pounds.
I am not interested in facilities, I just want to play Blu-rays and to be impressed by them.

If all you want is to feed the HDMI output into your telly then probably no huge benefit PB.
However, if you want good quality sound output into a 552 then you need to consider the DAC part of the chain. If you've got a good quality external DAC you can feed the SP/DIF output from the BluRay player into this (after getting the player to down-mix multichannel soundtracks to stereo).

Have a BDP-83 for my A/V setup, and a BDP-83SE for my stereo. The SE was a nice improvement in the stereo analog outputs, but only a minor improvement in the multi-channel analog outputs.
Participated for several months in the Oppo threads on Avsforum. The few guys that went with the Nuforce edition reported a similar bump up from the SE (larger for stereo, minor for multi-channel).
Now that I have the Naim DAC in my stereo setup, the BDP-83SE has been relegated to transport duties (defeating the whole point of the SE -- all the editions are the same for digital).

Doc, what drew you to the Cara? It seems awfully expensive for its level of performance.
Just needed a one box solution which fitted in our narrow TV stand. The replacement is going strong despite constant child abuse.
I am now looking for a higher quality BluRay player for my hi-fi room (without the Cara's pre and power amps). Lots of you seem to use these Oppos, but I've read of lip-sync problems with them. Any experience, and is there a lip-sync option in the player's menu?

Am interested in replacing my Sony 550 or something player with the Cambridge mentioned by the other folks in this thread.
Worth it you think?
Thanks
