NAIM CD2 maintainability
Posted by: Philippe Dancause on 11 November 2002
I have a opportunity for a 1997 CD2 and would like to know what is the final word about its maintainability.
I know the CDM9 is discontinued but is it unavailable from naim or other repair centre?
thanks for your kind help!
Phil
p.s. BTW any advice about this player is welcome

Philippe,
Hop to page 21 of the Hi-Fi Corner, you can find this topic started by Jonas_Bj there.

thanks for your answer John.
Can anybody else confirm this information?
Thanks you Christian.
I have read that thread pefore posting this. It talks about the CMD9 vs CDM9pro transport but does not confirme the availability of any of these in case of repair.

Philippe,
Sorry, please go to page 14 and read the second page of the Nat02 topic (September 7th) instead. You'll find an answer from Doug Graham there on my same question. Ok?

Been out of the loop for a while, hence no response to your post.
CD2 stuff is ok. We can keep them going for a good while yet.

I recently bought a CD2 and rang Naim to double check this very question!
The service dept. reckon they've got about 3 year's worth of CDM9 transports (not the "Pro" version) in stock. So if the transport is gonna go, you've got a 3 year "safe" period.
One thing I didn't ask is why the mechanisms from the CDX wouldn't do the job, even with the drawer assembly. I presume them to be the same size, so is it a software issue or what?

Ed.
