Naim DAC & imac / iphone

I will be getting a the Naim DAC at some point. Which way is best to integrate my imac & itunes stored songs with it?

I was thinking imac to apple tv to DAC via optical out ? Would this sound better/ be more user friendly than my iphone by itself. It will be mainly for background listening, not supercritical listening. I intend using the CDX2, DAC, 555PS for that.

Cheers,

Pete

Defo apple tv, you can pick tunes from your iphone in the comfort of you chair then. The other way means the iphone has to be attached to the dac meaning one has to actually stand up and move around. Yuk.

That seems like a strange thing to say? Are you assuming that a Mac - Naim DAC will be nowhere near as good as the CDX2/DAC/555PS? I think you are in for a surprise, especially if you use the 555PS on the DAC when connected to the Mac.

I also think Crackie is in for a shock as to how good the Mac/DAC/555PS is going to sound, but I think the comment may be along the lines of what I use my Squeezebox for:- I stick it on random, and let it play all day when I am working from home.

That way it is like a fantastic radio station, that only plays music YOU like, with no DJs wittering on, no useless Traffic Reports, no phone-in competitions, no repetitive news bulletins.

Nothing like radio then. Smile
