Hi Steve

Sorry I know little of Torvil and Dean, I remember Jan and Dean. However, was the piece you heard Boléro that Maurice Ravel wrote for a large orchestra consisting of two flutes, piccolo, two oboes (oboe 2 doubles oboe d'amore), cor anglais, E-flat clarinet, two B-flat clarinets, bass clarinet, two bassoons, contrabassoon, four horns, piccolo trumpet in D, three trumpets, three trombones, tuba, three saxophones (one sopranino, one soprano and one tenor), timpani, two snare drums, cymbals, tam-tam, celesta, harp and strings (violins, violas, cellos and double basses)?

If so then you can hear it by clicking here.

Yes T&D threw out the rule book and did their own ice skating performance to it. Absolutely wonderful. Ravel made a sensation with it but also commented that he'll never be remembered for anything else.

It's a good piece to get acquainted with classical. Ravel really knew how to orchestrate pieces. Next try Pictures at an Exhibition. And for the top, Stravinsky's Rite of Spring to blow your mind.
