Proximity/interference in older Naim gear

Greetings all.

Are there rules or suggestions for placement of Naim preamps, power supplies and amps with respect to eachother? I've moved my system around recently, and noticed a rather stunning improvement in musicality and overall balance. Apart from possible contact cleaning -- from plugging/unplugging the cables -- I can only think it has something to do with the placement of the various components. (Nothing's been added or adjusted, just moved around).

Formerly, the power supply (Snaps) and amp (250) were a comfortable distance from the preamp (32.5), but close to eachother. Now, they're all separated about as far as they can be from eachother. I remember when I first bought the set from my dealer, I had the Snaps next to the preamp, and that was causing problems. Once they were kept apart, things were A-OK.

Are these proximity issues normal? Is older Naim gear just a little more sensitive to this than newer models?

Obviously I'm not complaining, as it sounds even better than before. Just curious if there are other placement issues to watch out for.

Thanks, cheers.
