nVi and EMI Classics DVDs

Posted by: oldandfeeble on 06 May 2007

My nVi will not play some EMI Classics DVDs, eg Menuhin, Kogan, Brendel. The problem is with the audio, dominated and distorted by static. The video is OK. The same DVDs play properly, eg, in my PC's DVD drive. Other EMI Classics DVDs play fine on the nVi, eg Oistrakh, Ferras etc. Is this a basic incompatibility problem with these EMI DVDs and nVi, or is there some adjustment I can make to the nVi setiings to overcome it?

Many thanks for any suggestions.

Forgive my ignorance, I presume these are music DVD's/DVDA's...

-what soundtrack is this doing it on? (Dolby Digital, DTS, MLP)
-Is it a stereo or 5.1 soundtrack

They are all DVD Video, and "Linear PCM Mono sound remastered for DVD". Some are DVD-5, some DVD-9. They are archive recordings, black and white picture, mostly from the 60s, but some from the 50s or 70s. Hardly designed to showcase the nVi's virtues, but great performances none the less. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks
