XPS, makes it all better?

Posted by: Reto D on 04 September 2002

Hi,

My first two days with XPS:

everything seems to improve..... great stuff.

There's just one thing I recognised: Some CD's
which I considered as well balanced recordings suddenly seem to loose their balance (voices and
flutes for example sound kind of aggressiv). Is this because it just shows the real level of recording?

Or something else.... (positioning of the loudspeakers, black burndy direction)

Maybe I should build a new house :-)

I've no experience with the XPS but plenty with other Naim gear. I think you need to give it more than 2 days to run in. Things should smooth out over the next week or two.

Reto

Adding my XPS onto the CDX was one of my best upgrades.

Having said that, it will sound as flat as a pancake for about 3 days, (it was awful in the first 12 hours)but will soon transform the CDX.

Come back this time next week and you will be loving it.

Just give it a few days to sound good and after a couple of weeks you will not recognise your system.

Regards

It'll still take 5 days to really start to sing. Up to two weeks for a total warm-up IMHO. Stick with it Reto, it will get better. Then (after 2 weeks) you can consider paying attention to system setup, speaker positioning etc.

HTH.
