budget equipment supports advice

I can't afford a Fraim. Can anyone recommend a decent, cheap, equipment support? budget less than 200 GBP ? (If such a thing exists.)

Have you tried the Appollo range of stands, they offer good performance at a reasonable rate.

If you fancy something a little less 'industrial', it might be worth checking out the Stands Unique range, which are solid and do the job well.

I beg to differ. I have a Stands Unique stand and while it looks very pretty it was no match sonically for my old Target one, never mind Mana etc.

Inexpensive. Attractive and very well made. Like my first girlfriend.

God I miss her.

I would also vote for the Quadraspire Q4.

It looks good, comes in 6 realwood feneers and sounds good. (neutral)
and.... (compared to a Fraim) it's affordable!

Greetings,

Hello Nic, how about something like this? It would cost about £40 and it enables one to adjust the height for all sizes of equipment. It can also be spiked. The 20mm screwed rod cost £2.00 a metre or £6.85 for 3 metres, it was purchased from my local steel stockholders, and the nuts cost 14pence each plus 2 pence each for the washers. The MDF was sourced from B&Q. I drilled and tapped the screwed rod and fitted 6mm spikes.
Regards
Ray.

Hello Duncan, I sold my Sound Organisation Z560 and built one of these...I personally think that the home built one is a lot better than the S.O, but that's just my opinion. I use 4 rods instead of 3, and I do not fit the rubber washers. MDF dosen't seem to attract the dust like the 560. Sound wise I haven't noticed any difference to speak of....I can't afford Mana as I'm poor.
