just received my shm cds from japan , free fire and water and cream disraeli gears.first free ,this was different from the british pressing, it sounded like it had been remixed which it had not been guitars sounded easier to follow and drumming clearer .the cream cd was not the new deluxe remaster but the first remaster which i thought was better , again the sound was good with the group easier to follow .these are not impressive cd more natural.has anybody else got any different titles on shms cds

Oh goody Chris - that means mine's due too!

What did you make of the Hendrix SHM CDs Tony?
Posted on: 05 August 2008 by tonym
Very good indeed 555. Compared with my knackered-out vinyl mono original of "Are You Experienced?" it's rather better! There are six additional tracks tagged on the end - Hey Joe, Stone Free, Purple Haze, 51st Anniversary, The Wind Cries Mary & Highway Chile. Worthwhile additions, and I was relieved they hadn't messed with the track order of the original songs.
"Axis" doesn't quite sound so good to my ears but maybe that's because my original vinyl copy's in considerably better nick than "Experienced" and anyway I didn't like this as much as the first album. No extra tracks on this one.

Thanks Tony.
These pics' of The Who 'My Generation' box set have recently been added to CD JPN's website. What are the chances this one will slip past HMRC at Mount Pleasant?

Slim to none but we live in hope! I have switched to ordering no more than 2 at a time and getting the plain envelope option! But that won't work for the box sets like this, or 2A Quick One" or the LedZep set.
Hey ho. I do think they are worth the premium. And presumably I am not alone as the initial pilot of 200 titles has long since gone.

Spot the redundant apostrophe - doesn't inspire confidence in the product!

Blimey. A veritable blizzard of the blighters has arrived. 5 Paul Wellers, 3 Creams, 3 Hendrix, Layla, 2 Allman Brothers, Blind Faith and 2 Who's! A few evenings at home ahoy! Only the Paul Wellers attracted HMRC as I forgot to break up the orders into smaller packages.

Setting Sons
All Mod Cons
Sound Affects
22 Dreams
Stanley Road
Wild Wood
I've heard these so far Kieth, & all are as one would hope from SHM CD.
Of these the only standard CD I also own is Wild Wood,
& the SHM is much better to my ears.

Thanks for heads up on Weller, esp Wild Wood.
I'm delighted to see that it's ELP's turn to get onto SHM-CD in September.

CDJapan is definitely slower than HMV in getting the new titles listed. Not sure why.

"Wheels of Fire" is excellent. I am working my way through my unheard backlog!

Luxen, I certainly hope you are getting the original Atlantic masters done by Barry Diament. If not, cancel your order!!!
Seriously. If you are getting the Jimmy Page remasters... they are unlistenable.
Once you hear the original Diaments done in the 80s, you can NEVER go back.

I'm still waiting for mine Chris.

Has anyone lost any of these disks in the post yet?

I've been getting mine form CD JPN & haven't had any strays yet Tony.
Where did you order from & how long ago were they dispatched?
Using CD JPNs standard air mail service,
packages take an average of four working days to get to me.

CD Jap 555. OK, I might be panicking a bit prematurely; it's only a day overdue according to their info; it's just that a couple of CDs I'd ordered after this one turned up last week.
And I WANT IT!!!
And I WANT IT!!!

We all want our SHM CDs now Tony, so we all feel your pain.

Edit:
Steady Phil! The SHM CDs I've heard are sonically very good.
I did a three way comparison of 'Catch a Fire'
Barry D. v Saint Steve of Hoffman v SHM CD (Mastered from the original two track analog master tapes by Ted Jensen.)
The result surprised me.
