just received my shm cds from japan , free fire and water and cream disraeli gears.first free ,this was different from the british pressing, it sounded like it had been remixed which it had not been guitars sounded easier to follow and drumming clearer .the cream cd was not the new deluxe remaster but the first remaster which i thought was better , again the sound was good with the group easier to follow .these are not impressive cd more natural.has anybody else got any different titles on shms cds

Having stumped up the £28 duty and charges Roll Eyes I have just received the Who box set, 2 Spooky Tooth albums in card sleeves and Van Morrision's "Still On Top". The Who set is very interesting, despite the random apostrophe on the box!

Any sign of it yet Tony? Everything I have ordered from them has shown up so far, touch wood. The DS album sounds great too.

Nope..But I'm still optimistic - it's recorded airmail so it should arrive eventually.

That's good. My latest batch sound terrific.

Heads up chaps. CDJapan have a lot of new titles added, including some Rory Gallagher Cool

Thanks for that Chris.
CD JPN still aren't offering the Tom Waits Oct releases HMV JPN are.
I emailed CD JPN on Tues asking if they will be,
but as I haven't had a reply I've ordered them form HMV.

cd jpn are offering the tom waits cds now, just a bit slower than hmv to put them up .

HMV Japan have got 19 pages of future SHM releases some of which are still not to be found on CDJapan. The later Cream releases (Goodbye plus the 2 live albums, the whole Dire Straits catalogue to name but two.

Email from CDJapan today. They have now got all the same stuff as HMV, e.g. Dire Straits, Cream, Derek and the Dominoues, Spencer Davis etc.

The My Generation box got here today, with an additional customs charge of £16.22. Not a problem. What a joy to hold and behold it is. I wonder what it sounds like? That’s a little treat for this afternoon.

As you say Chris, HMX and CDJ seem to be tracking neck and neck now. Oooo there's some good stuff on the horizon.

Cheers

Question. Is HDCD pining for the fjords? Or are they still sneaking out?

Thank heavens for a long weekend. A ggo chance to catch up on the listening. I have got a really exclectic mix of stuff now. Chet baker to Motley Crue, god help me!

Currently got the Elton John Greatest Hits playing. Bodes well for the indivisual albums.

I am abit peeved though, as I bought a number of individual Traffic albums when they came out in carboard sleeve form and now have the same stuff on order in SHMcd. I suppose it will be interesting to try and hear a difference!

My local sorting office have "lost" a package for me having put a card through my door saying that I owed the £14.03 in duty and charges. Not sure which package it is though which is a bit of a bugger.

How were your listening sessions Chris?
I had a similarly annoying experience (no pun intended!), when I bought the Hendrix cardboard sleeve releases a few months before the SHM CDs.
Have the P.O. found your package?
At least you can prove they lost it!

Ongoing! The Duane Allman Antholgies 1 and 2 are really good. I had them in their first release incarnations from many years ago - these sound tons better. We had Rick Wakeman's Recollections on earlier, again great sounding.

the stone roses debut classic first album to come out in october on shm .

It is a strangely eclectic catalogue developing in fact. Anything owned by Universal seems fair game but I guess the Sony half of the world is out of bounds. Does anyone know who owns Capitol? I'd love to see some Bob Seger and some Beach Boys on SHM.

universal seems to be label where all the shm cd come from .no cat stevens cd yet ,but the deep purple cds i am sure where on emi harvest ? strange .
Posted on: 28 August 2008 by 555
JVC and Universal Music Japan jointly developed SHM CD, so that makes sense Kieth.

According to bl.uk EMI own Capitol Chris.

Thanks John. All very confusing. I have spent a lot on these but I think they are worth every penny.

peter frampton cds out this week in japan .will this be the first hdcd in shm format ie frampton comes alive if they use the deluxe versions mastering , should be interesting .

It will be very interesting to compare the MFSL gold cd of "Frampton Comes Alive" with this SHM release.
