just received my shm cds from japan , free fire and water and cream disraeli gears.first free ,this was different from the british pressing, it sounded like it had been remixed which it had not been guitars sounded easier to follow and drumming clearer .the cream cd was not the new deluxe remaster but the first remaster which i thought was better , again the sound was good with the group easier to follow .these are not impressive cd more natural.has anybody else got any different titles on shms cds

Take a look at the conversation on page 19 of this thread. I already own all the ECM CD's in that list so I am probably not going to go for them. ECM's already sound so good, I just wonder if these could be better?

Adrian
I did order several. Can't put my hands on them right now but they were al great recommendations. Thank you.
However, have to report total failure to take in a jazz club in NYC. We just got sidetracked and once we had dinner most evenings the miles and miles we had walked in the day caught up with us! If only I was 27 and not 57!! We did go down to the Village in the day time though and walked past the Blue Note. I stuck my nose in to enquire about a dinner booking but the place was deserted! Oh well, next time!

This is a dangerous business, this SHM-CD. Ltd edition ... they know what they're doing!

Just added "Stone Roses" and "Stone Roses Second Coming" to my increasingly long account. (Mrs JWM gave me the latter for Christmas 1994, when it was originally released; now she can have that joy all over again Big Grin)

Oh yes! Some real classics coming through, though I have to say some of the catalogue is very obscure or just not for me. The entire works of Kiss or Bon Jovi, anyone?

just a trio to add ,the faces nagaa wink, rod stewart and robbie robertsons debut album.

If interested got to www.hmv.co.jp and do a serch for SHM in the music section and then select "release date order". There is a lot of great stuff coming! The rest of the early Stones albums for a start.

Yummy Chris!
Sorry to go off topic, but How was the big day?
Mighty excellent I hope.

I got back home yesterday evening, after three weeks holiday.
I was hoping to find a pile of SHM CDs waiting for me, but there were none!
Having checked my orders none lost in the post; just timing.

My system has now been powered for 24hrs, so should be bearable.
I'm using my BC on my CD selections for the first listening session,
while I read emails & catch up here. Smile

Hey John

It was absolutely perfect! Fabulous day. Even the weather smiled upon us! Thanks for asking.

My hall table had a stack of brown packages on it when we got home! Lovely stuff, like all the Traffic albums, and several from EC.

Then I went to work on the Monday and got fired!! Sign o' the times.

Just listening to CCR "Chronicles Vol 1" on SHM. The whole CCR catalogue coming out on SHM in December.

Hi Chris

Good to hear the big day was perfect, but sorry to hear about your work.
Is this redundo' due to economics?
If so I trust you know your rights & have asserted them.

I have five CCR CDs on DCC gold remastered by Lord Hoffman,
so comparing them will be interesting.

Cheers - John

I have put up with CCR album on the scruffy old vinyl that they originally surfaced on - used to buy them as they were released - I still make do with those very same copies - I guess I'm no fortunate son.

Very sorry to hear about your job Chris - I hope something comes along for you soon.

Thanks chaps.
Myself and 2 others were still in our first probationary 6 months so very easy to get rid of without having to declare us redundant. Despite the economic doom and gloom I view this as an opportunity not a setback.

John, I have both "Chronicles" on DCC Gold as well. I thought the SHM versions edged them. Both very good mind you.

Heads up, SHM fans! CD Japan has today listed all the new stuff coming out. Well worth a trawl.
Posted on: 21 October 2008 by 555
Thanks for that Chris; I've just placed my order.
Good to hear you've a positive handle on things - I'm sure you'll be fine. Smile

Well you know how it is John. As a friend of mine in the water treatment business keeps telling me, shiy floats!

Good man! Just got 3 new Dire Straits albums in today's post. And my new Bedini Clarifier! Got Brothers in Arms playing now after a spin in the machine. Sounds excellent.

Which model did you pick Chris?

Try listening to a track from an old favourite CD; one that's been played many times & you know well. Then zap it with your BC, & listen to the same track again. Then please tell us what you think of the difference, assuming you hear one!

John
I got the 4 beam mains powered jobby. I zapped BinA before I played it. I shall try the experiment soon!
