just received my shm cds from japan , free fire and water and cream disraeli gears.first free ,this was different from the british pressing, it sounded like it had been remixed which it had not been guitars sounded easier to follow and drumming clearer .the cream cd was not the new deluxe remaster but the first remaster which i thought was better , again the sound was good with the group easier to follow .these are not impressive cd more natural.has anybody else got any different titles on shms cds

HMV Japan has a load of new albums in SHM available for pre-order. They have not shown up on the cdjapan site yet. Highlights include 8 blues titles, a lot of mid-period Clapton, the whole Traffic back catalogue and a few other gems.

Thanks for the heads up Chris.
They had been added to CD JPN today; have you ever purchased from HMV Japan ?

I see there's a second low price two disc sampler in this batch,
so hopefully they'll save a warped copy for munch! Winker

Has anyone tried CD JPNs discreet packaging option?

Never tried it John but don't think you'll get passed customs any easier.

The rules for using this discreet packaging option are fairly strict;
max two CDs per order.

I've received 16 packages from CD JPN so far & none have caught HMRCs attention.
I kept these to 2 or 3 discs so keeping each order small seems to work.

I admit I'm tempted to use the discreet option,
but only to reduce record buying criticism from SWMTSIBO!

in the small print for disceet packaging no card sleeves allow,so most of the shm cds are ruled out for this option.

My first tentative foray into SHM-CD. Would be nice to have an album to compare like for like but great familiarity with some of the tracks on this release should be good enough. Almost ashamed to admit that following on will be a 10cc compilation. Not my first choice, not even my 101st choice, yet I find myself strangely eager to give it a spin. It just appealed for some reason – although at least one third of the content will be skipped over. I have my limits.

Cheers

Yeah got that note too, plus a couple of other delays. Hey ho. I just hope they don't pull the plug on it a la LZ debacle!

So many of these things have arrived at once I am totally overwhelmed in them! I guess it's cos the release dates have all been at month ends.

As an aside, I had several Traffic albums in my ipod playlist on my recent Greek holiday. They were an exceptional band and if anyone doesn't have their stuff already buy the SHM versions with confidence. The entire back catalogue has now been announced for SHM release. I love their live albums "Welcome to the canteen" and "On the Road".

The Led Zeppelin SHM CD releases are back!

This time all 12 CDs with the extras can be bought together.
This works out 7618 yen (£36.21) cheaper then buying them separately,

Also no hassles with coupons.

J.N. kindly bought along some of his shm CDs last night, together with some duplicates on the standard-flavour CDs.

We tried the standard Steely Dan "Groucho", then the shm version.

Wow. The difference ain't small! The first single-word description that springs to mind is "Analogue". Bloody good!

Off to order some... Big Grin
