Does anyone NOT like the 52?

There are some of Naim's products that seem to be universally loved (Nait 2!). Is the 52 one of these? For example, I've read forum postings that one should upgrade from 102 to 102/SC to 52/SC i.e. the 82 is kinda pointless. Is there anybody out there (ooh dear, too much Syrah and Pink Floyd) who does NOT consider the 52 a vast improvement over an 82?

Bear in mind that you're talking to someone who thought his 62/SC/140 rocked. Thing is, its a reasonable chunk of change and everything sounds pretty groovy already.

The 52 has only 1 problem:
Its price. wink

It is the king of preamps, but the emperor is born.

I guarantee that when certain people drop £12k on the 552 the 52 will suddenly become crap! You will hear all the usual 'how did I live without it', 'I'm very rich, so there' and 'It's like heraing music for the first time'. I jumped from a 92 to 2nd hand 82 and think the 82 is fab, I am sure the 52 is better but it does not make the 82 a bad amp.

Well said. In my opinion, any Naim kit that is working as it should makes music.
