Anybody else like the Smoke Fairies?

Probably the best new group I've heard since Waking the Witch - wondered if I was the only one who liked 'em.

I heard 'Hotel Room' on Radcliffe and Maconie in the car last night and was very taken.

ROTF,
Saw them supporting Richard Hawley last year, with Diccus. Cannot say they made a massive impression on me at the time, but happy to have another listen.
Regards

Only heard the records and think the new album is a step up from the debut EP - so worth a second listen if you get a chance. Hotel Room is good starting point.
The vocals remind me of Sonja Kristina crossed with Celia Humphries.

Slightly curious coincidence, never having heard of them until last Saturday...one of those bread-crumb trails...I was listening to The Amazing (folky off-shoot of Dungen, Myspace here) on Myspace, which led me to Life On Earth (similar) one of whose Myspace friends was Lisa o Piu with whom I was much taken.
And people who bought the Lisa o Piu album on Amazon also bought The Smoke Fairies, so I listened to that on Myspace too.
Liked it, though I liked the Lisa o Piu rather more: Lisa o Piu album here on Myspace

Never heard of them before this thread but i'm listening to the album on Spotify now.
Rather good so far so a purchase could be in the offing

I saw them supporting Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel earlier this year and was pretty impressed. I have ordered the vinyl from their website. Looking forward to receiving it.

is this the same Smoke Fairies ?

Now Joe, that's just cruel. :-)
With Sanderson, Rudolph and Hunter on the loose, the Smoke Fairies wouldn't be Fairies for very long.

I like the Pink Fairies too, but they sound rather different from the enchanting duo that are the Smoke Fairies.
Yes Jeff they are the same Smoke Fairies, but the latest elpee is a progression from the rather good Living with Ghosts. The Smoke Fairies are Katherine Blamire and Jessica Davies, friends since childhood in Sussex, educated together at Tulane. English folk and American blues play a role in their music, as well as the British psychedelia of the 1960s that drew from both traditions.
