Source for inner sleeves for LPs?

Posted by: Top Cat on 11 June 2001

Hi folks.

I'm looking for a reliable and fairly inexpensive source for decent, lined inner sleeves for LPs - I prefer lined sleeves, but will put up with those semi-circular nagaoki(?) plastic sleeves (as they seem to be good aside from being a right royal pain in the a$$ to use).

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

HiFi for sale was one of my secret places for finding bargain Naim gear - now everyone will know about it.

The above do 100 inner sleaves for £19, this is good value. I have used these for years and they are the best VFM.

Vivante also do a range of inner/outer LP covers - poly-lined inners are £9.95/50 and 'special' anti-static ones are available at £14.95/50

details are in their March newsletter which you can download in pdf format from the above url. If you call them don't mention hififorsale though - they're not exactly best friends as the front page editorial will explain!

covers33.com is a good source for inner sleeves, with free P & P. A very quick service as well.

Having tried virtually every specialist and non-specialist inner sleeve available, including "woven graphite" and other exotic materials, I long ago came to the conclusion that there is nothing which beats the Nagaoka No. 102 anti-static sleeves. They don't cost very much, they're easily available, and they get rid of all static reliably and consistently. The semi-circular shape isn't a problem; the trick is to fold over (at about 45 degrees) the first corner of the sleeve to enter the outer sleeve. The open side of the inner sleeve should be facing the top side of the outer sleeve. The type of polyethylene used means that the friction generated between the sleeve and both vinyl and cardboard is very low, so the record itself slides around very easily without damage.

They are also slightly smaller than the majority of "supplied" inner sleeves (often printed), so can be used inside the original, if desired.

Available from Diverse Vinyl, and lots of others. Nothing to touch them...

Best;
