Thanks Ewen - Stoa is a very good album. Where did you pick up your other Bartsch albums? I see them on his website. Do you have another source. Maybe I will be able to get some at the show.

The only other site I have seen some of them on is amazon.de. But not cheap unfortunately.

Haven't got around to buying the rest of his discs yet but will do.

His reed player Sha has a new disc out that sounds quite good. Samples are up on myspace or on Sha Banryu site (link on Nik's site).

Adrian,
Good album.

What Marianne? My first play. Not bad so far Smile . She can't really sing Eek but what attracted me to it was the fact she had got some superb musicians from the New York Downtown Jazz scene such as Marc Ribot and Greg Cohen to play on the album with her.

Susanna - I have posted this before but have never seen anyone else play anything by Susanna. I think this could appeal to a few here - MilesSmiles, Droodzilla, Diccus, Ewemon etc etc. It is out there on Spotify to try. Rather nice. (Nigel - Susanna is sister of Christian Wallumrod)

Susanna - Sonanta Mix Dwarf Cosmos

Sounds very good real late night listening. Have you heard any of her other 3 albums. She does a version of Hallelujah on her covers disc. It also features These Days, Love Will Tear Us Apart and AC/DC It is a Long Way to the Top. Very atmospheric.

I have them all. I like Flower of Evil but they are all good. Flower of Evil has a few well known covers on it - ABBA, Thin Lizzy, Tom Petty, Harry Nilsson. I'll have to have a listen to Hallelujah later and compare to the better known versions.

Not jealous at all Frown

I was there for this one though

Now that would have been good. Both Petrucciani and NHOP. Never got to see either of them.....

A quite simply superb evening when I was still living in Copenhagen. Saw NHOP with Petrucciani and Peterson, both excellent.

Hi Stu - think Adrian already answered this for you so I'll chip in with support for the Alva Noto CD, "Insen". It's absolutely top notch - one of the best experimental/electronic albums I've heard.
Cheers

Blind Pilot "3 Rounds and a Sound"

from amazon.com: Blind Pilot sounds something like a wistful mix of The Shins with a bit of Iron & Wine folksiness. But these comparisons don't give a full representation of the unbelievable beauty of this album. Don't take our word for it. As Willamette Week immediately proclaimed: 'Every once in a while a band comes along that knocks me so flat on my ass that I wish I was in the PR business or an A&R guy instead of a critic, so I could throw myself wholeheartedly behind it. Blind Pilot [gave] me that sensation. Frontman Israel Nebeker sounds like a less theatric version of James Mercer: every bit as sincere and captivating, with vocal control and style to spare. And this band has songs coming out of its ears: deep, clever guitar-driven tunes fleshed out with soaring horn arrangements. Listening to and thinking about these songs has kept me awake at night lately.' It would be hard to imagine a better review, but 3 Rounds and a Sound is just that good.
