From Gargarin's point of view arrived last week, so been OD'ing on EST. Good stuff though.

I'm still inclined towards Tuesday Wonderland being my favourite.

Sublime! I'm saving disc 2 for Sunday. In the meantime I just had to spin this true gem...

You will enjoy it - disc 2 is even better than disc 1 IMHO.

As requested. Munch, 'You're old'.

Still wish I were old enough to have been at Earls Court on 25th May 1975!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Next thing you'll tell me you were at Hammersmith Odeon on 10 June 1976 (Genesis with Bill Bruford on drums).

Oliver,

I know for a fact that Adrian keeps quite a few regular ECMs as well in his filing hall. We are having snow here tonight, I bet you are not.

Genesis 'Hammersmith Odeon' 10 June 1976, Pre-FM/soundboard.

Now gents, the filing has a fair few but overall not too large - maybe some of them I will eventually like!! Some of the ECM New Series are challenging, but more often wonderful. The most difficult ECM New Series I ever bought was this one.

Here is a description of the album - it consists of readings of poems by TS Eliot and Giorgos Seferis, among which fragments of music arise mysteriously and then fade away. The poems have all been translated into German, and are read with tremendous muted power by the actor Bruno Ganz.

Hmmn. A little difficult for me to understand and appreciate but for MilesSmiles and Stefan well maybe they could enjoy it being German.

Haim - yes the Stefano Battaglia albums are on the filing shelf!!

Dean...

Dean

This was a great album at the time but there are better albums in the catalogue that have stood the test of time.

Please try

Darkness on the Edge of Town
Born to Run

and then maybe move onto

The River
The Wild, The Innocent and The E Street Shuffle

I will give this a spin as well. I am going to be playing a lot of Andy Sheppard over the next few weeks.
