Scotland -Holland 1-0

What do you scotsmen (brits) think of it ? The dutch team is well passed their top, but wednesday's game will be different from saturday. Rumours go that 5 or 6 players in the dutch team will be replaced ,so no Kluivert, Stam, Davids, Seedorf, van Bronckhorst and de Boer.Anyway that's one good thing !

Of those I thought Seedorf looked dangerous when he came on but the rest were ineffective. Still, Wednesday's game is a win-win situation for Holland:
If you win - you're in the finals!
If you lose - no more Advocaat!
I think Holland are still favourites to go through because Scotland rode their luck on Saturday (although perhaps they had the better of the changes) but it should be an interesting game.

Alan,
Correction:they didn't fail to make it to the '98 world cup (after a playoff against Ireland...!).They even got to make it fourth place then, but with a better team.
You're right, I'm ashamed about the team and their lack of fighting spirit. I think they don't deserve to win on wednesday and wish Scotland all the best.

It's a shame to see the infighting though - Holland have some wonderful talent at the moment and players that could really entertain. This continual back-biting & prima-donnaing plus crap managers like Advocaat (and I'm a Rangers fan!) isn't going to help.
The Dutch defence was poor on Saturday and a decent team would have scored a barrow load against it. The midfield were ineffective against a makeshift Scottish setup and the strikers (some of the best in the world IMHO) barely kicked the ball. The lad playing on the right wing had a good go though and gave Naysmith (one of our best players) a torrid time of it.
Here's hoping the Holland don't get their act together tomorrow though as you need a change of regime (which won't happen unless you go out) and we need all the help we can get to qualify!
Regards

No need to worry. I read a report in the paper how the team had an all-night champagne party Saturday night (it had been arranged way in advance) to further ruin the shape they're in. One player fainted during a radio interview, Monday morning, he was so hungover.

I'll settle for a draw !!!!
After all, how many teams get the opportunity to really upset a team ranked 53 places higher in the world rankings over two legs !!!!
Or will we grab defeat from the jaws of victory (again) ?

Like all Legends "William of Orange" shall probably live forever, but will, at the very least at this half time moment be perplexed by Scotland's daft egotistc agression in the first ten minutes or so, which is now back-fireing on them as much as I love em. Holland are brilliant
too (German's with Humour) and Mother Theresa's last few required Micacles to ensure her Catholic Sainthood could well be won by a Scotish Victory tonight, RESPEKT. Fritz.
PissĀ² I'm supposed to have seen this guy tonight
doing his stuff, but opted to watch tv instead ?http://www.robertphipps.free-online.co.uk/ Check it out: If You Dare ?

I cannie watch anymore 6 - 0 down etc, etc, but Scotland are doing their very
best and the earlier fuck ups forgiven. Likewise and much more importantly the pubs and clubs of Amsterdam tonight will be partying big style and any sadness will soon be forgotten. This kind of International friendship is vital to Europe's future, and if anybody can work out the recipe they will be World Famous overnight ? Jocks - Dutch, get on brilliantly as a rule, barring the odd young barmpott who'll need a directive slap from his own to show him/her the way, it works (really) I don't mean violence, I mean education through experience. Read "Porno" non winner of the Nobel prize for Literature & Booker to-boot just real.

It's easy - take any nation and remove the superiority complex. Accept defeat with grace and a hangover !
It's the taking p&rt that counts, not being a pr&t.

Berlin Fritz -- I was replying to the previous post rather than yours.
I can't confirm if you are boring or not as I can never understand anything you say
Matthew
PS I note: Scotland with West Ham's Christian Dailly 1 - The Netherlands 0. Scotland without West Ham's Christian Dailly 0 - The Netherlands 6.
Truly West Ham is The Academy of Football.

Finally the dutch team showed their class. With the youngsters the spirit is back in the team.I only hope it's not an one time event, as England after the 1-5 on germany.

"It's also worth noting how much better the Dutch are without that dickhead Kluivert"
And he's almost certainly coming to England next year -- Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd being the favourites (in that order). I don't think he's remotely in Jodie Morris's class though although he's clearly a "Coach Killer" of Veron proprotions.
Still its not a proper tournament without the Dutch involved as we need someone to provide the entertaining football while the Germans are busy winning it.
Lativia are my second team for Portugal after a heroic performance in Istandbul. Winning in Riga was one thing but to come back from 0-2 against Turkey was astonishing.
Matthew
PS Its truly sad to see a once great nation like Scotland humbled and disgraced by such a consumate drubbing. I for one will not be spending the morning going up to that narky Scotch bloke in Accounts and asking him if he's seen any football lately, whistling the Oranjeboom advert music, etc.

Kluivert sure is a dickhead. He has been involved in a rape case and a few driving accidents ,but now seems to be a "decent" boy now that he's married with children....

I wanted Scotland to win but once the outcome of the game became inevitable it did become kinda fun watching them get absolutely stuffed.
Sorry and all that but if it was England playing Adolf Hitlers all star 11 then I know who most Scottish fans would have been rooting for.

Alan,
Why on earth would I want to go to Chilly Jocko Land? It seems much like Cumbria but even colder and more miserable.
Yours Englishly,

As if things weren't bad enough I had a meeting in Engerlund today, but at least the folks there didn't rub things in to badly.

I can understand that, you being a soft Southern jessie boy and all!
You need to brush the dust off that mountain bike of yours and get yourself up here to visit the likes of Glentress, Mabie, Dalbeatte & Fort William. I promise you'll enjoy it much more than riding on that nasty tarmac stuff.
Might head down to Glentress this weekend - might even give my newly built, lightweight rigid MTB a go (although I expect I'll bottle out and take the Epic).

I was a bit upset that RVN "wasted" a couple of goals.
Much better he scored them against Arsenal or Chelsea.
