This Journeys by DJ (
Coldcut JDJ) mix has recently been released and deserves a place in the collection of anyone who is into dance music. I bought the, since deleted, original back in 97 or 98 and unfortunately lost the cover after it was stolen by someone, obviously in no fit state to remember what they were listening to, at a post club party at my flat. Hopefully this is the start of the re-release of a lot of the JDJ titles, they are mostly excellent.

....actually not that mad at all but is one of the best DJ sets I've heard in a long, long time.
Being into hip-hop, trip-hop, drum and bass and detroit techno etc this has (unsurprisingly) been an instant hit with me but the way Coldcut seamlessly blends the styles together is quite amazing. His mixing is always spot on and the scratching has been dropped in, not as an in your face advertisment of his talent, but subtly to enhance the flow.
Definately a quality CD and one that's in no way showing it's (5 year) age.

Coincidentally, I bought this myself less than 48 hours ago, and I'm really enjoying it. It's a great melange of different styles. Occasionally it seems a bit forced (mainly about a third of the way through), but overall it makes for very enjoyable listening. The sound quality is a bit grainy, but it doesn't detract much from the music.
