It's Civil Service meaningless Jargon Our Andy, and like you say you do, I also don't get paid overtrime, and if I work weekends etc (as I occassionally do) I get roughly time and a quarter in hours in leu, innit.
This is not a sob story:
About 12 years back I found myself in the unforeseen and unenviable position of being heavily in debt (with one bank), then suddenly on the dole (no I wasn't fired, but laid off). My debt that was (in DM's) well runnîng into 5 figures (and almost 6 frighteningly), had no chance then of being paid off, and interest was rising by the day, etc. After about a year when they started getting heavy, I saw on advice, a Lawyer/come-debt advisor (who I've been with ever since). In between varíous jobs and dole, I've managed to clear a good 95% of this debt, and have a good record with a new bank since (they naturally know fully of my history). A few months back my Lawyer called me in to inform me that my original bank had sold off my remaining debt to a recovery firm, which shocked me somewhat, as well as a little angry too. Even though I now work, I'm advised not to pay them anything (she has my full power of attorney so to speak and does everything paperwork-wise). In effect this'll mean I'll eventually get a visit from the court baillifs (which I've tried to hinder all along), and I'm slightly wondering why I've gone through this whole pallarva in the first place (she recently told me that only around 5% of debters even start paying stuff back, now she tells me!). I'll be pretty glad when this guy has been here, sticks his stickers on what he deems valubale (He's an official court officer with police powers, nothing to do with the recovery firm thank fuck), apparently it's all very civilised, and one has time to remove certain things if so desired (obviously not my Rembrants though)
Fritz von Nice little Easter tale I thought, and besides the obvious chocolate firegaurd comments that may well arise from Swindon etc, I'd be interested to know of any other similar jolly experiences taken to their end?
N.B. I'm lucky in not havíng a mortgage, and other responsibilities financially except for myself, and wonder why a large financial institution had allowed me (and many others) to have loans far exceding our incomes in the foirst place, I never required gaurantors either thank Gawd (that makes things even more sticky in the Private sphere Dunnit):

Fritz,
some financial institutions have strange ways of working, don't they? I'll bet for a certain time thru that road you were somewhat stressed out!!!
Still, you seem to be coming out of the other side of it now...good for you.
have a steady easter.

T o be honest if I'd known before that this would be the end result (and me never actually getting to clear it) I'd have said sod it years ago, and invited them around pronto, seemingly doing the honourable thing doesn't count for much.
Regards,
Fritz von I won a few bob on the lotto last night though**
P.S. Never been a gambler either, waste of good ale money, innit*

I always think it's relevant to remind folk of today's Christian Celebration of the Resurrection of that most Famous Palestinian Jew.
Fritz von And what with next friday being our local Mayoress's birthday as well as Lisbett's 80th too, only one day earlier Cpl Carpetchewer was also born (Sixth child, with all his earlier siblings dying at birth, that was lucky wunnit, for his parents that is!), I don't think they'll be celebrating it in Israel though, no matter how Fascist some on here seem to think they are, innit*

Dear Fritz,
I would not be offended if you did not believe me! I tend to believe what seems right to me rather than what I am told, nowadays.
My UK grandfather had an interesting saying, which is demonstrably not untrue:
"Believe nothing you are told, and half you read, and you may well have a quarter of the truth!"
Past caring anymore, Fredrik

That's a good saying Our Fredders (very 'true' of today's er, media) and obviously not popular with salesmen and self-styled IFA's.
Fritz von I believe I recall reading a similar vein in one of the Dickens Classics?*
Mind you., I might have totally made that up too, you know me, and what with war being the first casualty of truth ana'll, innit!*
N.B. Apparently Mrs Mick has just sent him scooting for bringing back a carcass of the local raging lamb (so full of lead it's poisonous almost), he's wearing hush puppies and a barnoiur, growing sideburns like that bloke form Mungo Tom, and now wants to do pub jigs and jam with the PM*

It would not be a total surprise to me that the old boy got it from Dickens! He was from a generation who would have read the works, as 'improving!' Fredrik

Dear Fritz,
Who invented the laminated steel, so famously used and perfected by the Japanese in the Samuria sword? Was it the Vikings or the Japanese? The timing and history, and even the exchange of ideas is by no means clear! Myself I think it may have been a parallel discovery!
Fredrik
PS: In your opinion were the Normans (Willy the Conc etc) Vikings or French, or Hybrid? Not, of course that any of this actually matters!

Fritz von Nothing new there then*
Remember that recent overloaded boat disaster in the Gulf, one old couple were kindly told of their son's and other-halfs demise by a bloody Sun journo on the blower. Next day's story called her his girlfriend, who in fact was his wife and pregnant with their first child (also both drowned). Sun vultures etc, then camped out side their house until finally being cordorned off by the er, police? The Sun vulture had naturally told all the neighbours too, asking for their opinions.
Just one little example of free Britain I thought, who needs the cops with investigative Journos on the loose, and all legal too, foreign office, what's that then?*
