22 albums of Bill Evans.
I also have 59 CDs recorded by the same person. Todd Garfinkel of MA Recordings. He also plays the piano on three of them.

This is quite awkward as I would have to have a count up.

Of conductors, (must guess) I would think I have Furtwangler, Klemperer, Boult, Erich Kleiber, Beecham, Barbirolli, in descending order of numbers.

Of Pianists, Schnabel, C Haskil, E Fischer, Curzon...

Of Violinists, Grumiaux, Menuhin, Oistrach...

Of Cellists, Fournier, Navarra...

Of String Quartets, Tatrai, Vegh, Busch...

Of Harpsichordists, H Walcha, Leonhardt, Hantaii...

Of Orchestras, Philharmonia (London), VPO, LPO, LSO, BBCSO, BPO, Czech Phil...

The analysis would be mind boggling,

Though of Composers the order is clear: Bach first, and Beethoven second!

Without being home to actually check I think it goes like this....in descending order....

Pink Floyd
U2
LTJ Bukem
REM
Billie Holliday
Bob Marley

Quite a mix really!

I know most of the artists we own begin with either M or S (although I note none of the above do!) as we just went alphabetical when re-arranging the cabinet to put it back in the lounge....

How do you store your....??

Cheers,
Ali

In no order

Cocteau Twins
Spacemen 3
The Flaming Lips
Pink Floyd
Pixies

62 Keith Jarrett
60 Miles Davis

Lots of complete sets of many other artists.

My biggest collection is my set of ECM CD's. I currently have 600 of the recordings and am gradually working my way to the full house.

Was he the bloke that used to arrive in the helicopter, and tried to sell you a house?

Are you confusing Syd with Barrett Holmes the famous detective?.

Now I do have all Syd's albums and the PF singles he was on, but that doesn't amount to very many.

Van Morrison tops my list followed by Led Zep, David Bowie and Stevie Wonder.

I have 327 albums, 12s and CD's that involve Bill Laswell. I know because I have an excel spreadsheet with his discography and the ones I have ticked off. Only another 508 for the complete set - at the moment. How sad is that?
Posted on: 28 May 2006 by packerman
I have not counted recently but I have about 327 CD's and LP's conducted by Wilhelm Furtwängler.

What are your favourites? What did you think of Ship Too Late To Save A Drowning Witch - I thought his last great work, but have not heard all the subsequent material.

I had Drowning Witch on vinyl but it got broken in two, forgot how. Got it on cassette after that. I liked the title song a lot, guess I still do if I leave enough time in between, and Envelopes too. Valley Girl is fun, for once. The other pieces didn't really work for me. I always wondered what made the vocals so weird on the 'I come from Nowhere' thing.

I loved that cover picture.

I like Zappa most in the seventies. I like the rich mosaic of melodies and the intense guitar work, but I get easily bored by the vocal stuff .

I should be able to compile a good 'introduction set' of 3 albums by now. How about YCDTOSA 1,2,3 ?

By including appearances on other artists discs, I arrive at: Richard Thompson, Emmylou Harris, Thelonious Monk, JE Gardiner, The Band (by craftily counting individual members appearance - esp. Garth Hudson) and John Coltrane as the most represented.

Hmmm, I think it is U2. About 15 CDs and 20 vinyl.

It was probably Zappa up until a few years ago when 40 odd lps got sold to fund a jaunt to India, now its COIL and Nurse With Wound, although Bill Laswell and associated releases comes in at 50 something

Probably the Beatles, if you include solo efforts and compilations. Though having said that, I have Dorati's complete Haydn symphonies on multiple CDs, plus various single discs of his recordings, so he's numerically the top individual artist in my collection.

The Fall, coming in at a meagre 28 LP's, which is 'nothing' in these circles. But then I'm not a completist. Runners up: Sonic Youth, Neil Young, the Velvet Underground skool (Reed, Cale, Nico, Mo Tucker) and of course Sun Ra.

Including solo stuff in CD and vinyl, i have in excess of 50 Beach Boys recordings. (Which amazed me!). Loads of Yardbirds/Cream/Clapton/Bruce/ Baker. Every J.J. Cale album on vinyl and CD, along with CD only compilations. Almost all of Neil Young's works in both formats.
Trouble is, I can't resist new versions of stuff, especially if they have been HDCD encoded too.

Just counted up and I have 123 titles by Martin Stephenson. Huge number of boots and promos included in that.

I have more David Sylvian stuff than anything else. How many? Loads. Maybe nearly all of them, save the odd Japan-only release.
