Melbourne Grand Prix

I enjoyed the race but the new rules have certainly taken away a lot of the excitement of pit stops. I noted that the lap times are not down too far from the norm despite a suggested 25 percent reduction in downforce to make the tyres last the distance. 1:25.683 sec fastest lap is not too shabby when the lap record is 1:24 (and a few hundreths). Good to see Minardi managed to comply with the new regs in time to race.

It will be interesting to see whether Ferrari dominates again this year and, if they do, it will be interesting to see whether and how long Schumacher will take to catch up with Barichello's 8 point lead.

Basil,

Coulthard did well in the Melbourne race for his new team but even then he only came fourth, and by this time Schumacher was completely out of the race.

Let's see what the next few races have in store - if Coulthard can maintain the improvement he showed in Australia and start producing a string of podium finishes then that might make things interesting...

Thanks Basil! I just sprayed coffee all over my monitor.

I try!

Jon, isn't this always Coulthard's problem, for the first few races of a season he's good, but hasn't he always faded away as the year progresses? Maybe this was down to the way Ron Dennis treated him, always favouring either Mika or Kimi?

Which is why I'm not that optimistic about Coulthard's chances this season!

Who knows though - he drove for McClaren for years so perhaps a new team will help.

I've always wondered how DC manages to get such good looking girls. I suppose it goes with the job.
When they go out for dinner after a race, I wonder if he whinges all night about the food, and the wine, and how long it took to get a taxi etc, etc. I wonder if when he orders badly, he blames the menu for being misleading? Poor girl must want that money Bad!!!
