Have you heard about the...

Fairy dust you sprinkle around your gear and it sounds amazing? I'm just joking of course but reading about all the 'tweeks' there are out there to improve audio performance is just mind boggling to me. I'm new to Naim and have a modest NaitXS with CD5i-2, NACA5 cables and supplied DIN interconnect and I am supremely impressed with the performance. I can't stop listening to it or buying new music to play at present. So much so, I already want MORE! The choices of upgrade paths and tweeks are as abundant as they are expensive and I'm not talking about just Naim. Please don't misunderstand, I get caught up in the whole thing myself. Certainly there are some that work and some that don't and the story goes on, different for each individual. I have an Acoustic Revive RR-77 and it works...for me. The point of all this is a story that sticks with me to this day. A fishing buddy of mine was showing me a fancy lure he bought, realistic eyes, super shiny clearcoat paint job, special hooks and so forth. I asked him 'how does it work'? His reply...'well, it caught me' Winker

Hoary old cliche I know; the best upgrade is buying more music.

I guess each of us has an upgrade 'potetntial' that is some bizarre calculation which includes our patience, curiosity, obsessionality and disposable income.

I'm relatively less curious as time goes on. I might be able to tweak my system with simple and cheap things such as cables, racks, fuses and the like but the truth is that last night I came home with 3 new CD's, bolted my dinner and sat on the floor enjoying them along with my wife. (Actually I think that poor punctuation makes that sound more racy than it is!)

The point is feel free to get into the tweaks and tips, tricks and fiddles. That whole process can be fun in itself. However in the end love of music got me into HiFi and for a sustaining pleasure that is what I suspect you'll come back to. I can enjoy a good disc on my crappy car stereo, iPod, office system or the full monty top set up, in the end the music gave me the pleasure.

Well said. I actually get just as much enjoyment listening to music on my iPod with ALAC files through my Shure SE530 earphones during commutes as I do anything else.

Cheers
