forum "previously read" markers

For the last few months the forum has not been updating which threads I have read each time I visit it. The little folder symbols show that all threads have new posts, including threads that have not been added to for days and weeks.

I do not have this problem on PFM. Can anyone shed light on how I can fix this minor irritation on this forum?
