ABBA How Good?

nd wouldn't mind seeing Bjorn Again sometime again, they were a great live band.
The first band I ever walked out on as I hated every minute of it.

Most of ABBA's albums are patchy but their singles, from "Ring Ring" through to "Thank You For The Music" are - the odd blip excepted - magnificent; beautifully-written pop songs played immaculately, and arranged with real loving care. All their best songs, like "Dancing Queen", "SOS", "Knowing Me Knowing You", "Name of The Game" and "Winner Takes It All" are filled with a gorgeous lilting Scandinavian melancholy. They're timeless pop masterpieces. I also love "Does Your Mother Know?" 'cause it's a bit pervy.
As a side note, in 1999 my good friend Mat, who used to edit Mojo magazine, took the (at the time) controversial and rather brave decision to run a massive feature on ABBA and put them on the cover. It turned out to be a huge success, the biggest-selling issue of his editorship.
