NaimUniti and Headphones - any recommendations?

Posted by: Vik71 on 26 February 2010

Just curious: what are you guys using in terms of headphones for the Uniti?
In view of keeping it simple, I would not rather use a separate headphone amp; so is there such a thing as an Optimal universal headset for the Uniti and what is it?

Currently using a pair of Audio Technica mf40 and looking at the Grado and AKG ranges.

all the best

Your first decision should probably be whether you want open or closed back headphones, rather than Uniti compatibility.
I tried AKG K701's (open) and K271's (closed) with my Uniti but have swapped them both for Denon's AH-D2000's (closed). These work very well with the Uniti and are much more to my taste than the AKG's. The K701's in particular sounded very thin on the Uniti.

Naim were using Audio Technica at the Bristol show - closed back ones about £200 I think.

Thank you John and Rupert
appreciate your inputs - will try to get hold of some Denons or Audio Technica - real problem is that my Naim dealer does not carry them but will see.

Thanks, Vik

I use Sennheisers hd595's realtively inexpensive and do a good job. Grado's are also good but too uncomfortable for my liking.
