Recording Analogue

I have a Pioneer PDR-05 CD record to record music concerts from my NAT 01 and record LP's, and do compilations for friends, etc.

Overall the quality of the recording is excellent - for sure you can hear the loss and there is a bit of digitalness but musically it works OK. The question is can it be made better?

What benefits would accruce (if any) by adding a better A to D converter - Wadia do some as do DCS I am sure thee are some pro-market machines about too.

Also I am looking for another CD player to make feed the Pioneer, the CDS2 has no digital out and it's a pain in the neck to keep inserting track stops - any suggestions. Robert Ritchie once modded a CD3 or something to give it a digital out, but I think that piece has been put back to it's original form. Anyone else done this?

Is there any merit in changing the Phonos at the back of the Pioneer to DINs or are the gains not worth it.

thanks

Dev.
