B Sides

The ongoing "Best Live Band" thread prompted me to dig out some old Johnny Kidd records.

"Shakin' All Over" was originally going to be the B side!

"Ecstasy", which was the B side of "Hungry For Love" is IMO a much better number than the A Side. In fact I would rate it as Johnny Kidd's best track after "Shakin All Over". Red Face

Then there's "Gloria" by Them. That was the B side of "Baby Please Don't Go" IIRC. Could have been a "double A", but I don't think it was.

How many other classic 45 singles should have been flipped?

I don't know about flipped because the single was also brilliant, but SIlver Springs by FLeetwood Mac was a B side to go your own way.

Now it is one of the bands most iconic songs thanks to the haunting version on the 97' The Dance.

Then you get the B sides which apparently are by a totally different artist e.g.

Golden Earring : Radar Love
B side : Just Like Vince Taylor (a great R&R pastiche) Smile

Quite a few of the early Phil Spector group singles had instrumental B sides. I no longer have the singles so can't say who they were by.

The Beatles Penny Lane had quite a good flip side.

Very true, but I especially liked the PL flip Cool

Except it wasn´t a B side.Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane was a double A side.

Now if you want a genuine Beatles B side try Revolution, the flip of Hey Jude, or even "Rain" the B-side of Paperback Writer and a genuine classic, the first Beatles track using reverse tapes

Wasn't George's Old Brown Shoe a B side? I remember playing that many times over. It wasn't a famous song but entertaining.

Someone sure had a good time going into archives and putting that clip together.

Indeed, the B side to the Ballad of John and Yoko.Check out some of the flips from the Kinks, Dusty Springfield etc. Better than most peoples A sides.
