Heathrow T5 - superb new airport terminal

Posted by: Guido Fawkes on 01 April 2008

Just back from a weekend away and would like to say what a great experience it was travelling from the wonderful new Terminal 5 at Heathrow with British Airways. No delays - just straight through with the minimum of hassle and no trouble with the luggage at all.

Britain can be really really proud of the state of the art terminal.

Well done - Willy Walsh and all concerned.

Especially liked the excellent car park - great security - no way could any thief get my car out from the car park as not even I, as it's rightful owner, could get the number plate recognition system to open the barrier - very impressive.

No problems with the bag handling to report - thanks to the advice to travel hand luggage only.

And I know the staff at the airport were giving me loads of useful information and it was entirely my and other passengers fault that we couldn't understand a word the non-English speaking Heathrow staff were saying - it was silly of me to expect the staff at Heathrow to speak the same excellent English that the airport staff in Austria spoke.

In Vienna airport it looked so clean you could eat off the floor, in Heathrow Terminal 5 it looked as if somebody already had.

Happy daze, Rotf

I flew in to Heathrow a few weeks ago.
I like having the remains of the crashed Boeing 777 in view.
No doubt a sculpture-like artistic comment on the Heathrow experience.

No surprise with this announcement then! Maybe I'll apply for the job since, following these two geniuses, whoever gets the job is a guaranteed success as the only way is up!

Cheers

This time, have they managed to put in toilets around the area you wait just before bording?

Toilets should be close for that last desperate squeeze just to make that one's bladder is completely empty so that one does not wet ones self on take off.

At least that is what flying does for me.

I am flying from Sydney to Adelaide this Sunday.

At Sydney domestic comfort facilities are very close to the departure gate.
