Disraeli Gears, What an Al***!

Posted by: Whizzkid on 26 September 2007

Just bought Disreali Gears on Universal Japan's new re-issue and just have to share with everyone what a fabulous album it is on a great pressing. Now that's a band I would loved to have seen live. Hope they do Wheels Of Fire as well.

Anybody got the recent Albert Hall reunion vinyl, any good? Also I have the first Velvet Underground Album from the same re-issue series anyone else tried these out yet they are a bit special.

I have the MFSL version of Disraeli and just love it. Never heard the current Japanese remasters of it. Had the pleasure of seeing them live in the 60's. Great band.

I've got the re-masterd CDs of Cream's main releases. DG is a great album, Superb lyrics too

A mother was washing her baby one night
The youngest of twelve and a delicate mite
The mother was poor and the baby was thin
He was nowt but a Skellington covered in ski-in
The mother turned round for the soap off the rack
She was only a moment but when she turned back
Her baby had gorn, ad in anguish she cried
"Oh where has my baby gorn?"
The Angels repli-hied
Yor baby has gone down the plug hole
yor baby has gon down the plug
The poor little thing was so skinny and thin
He should have been washed in a jug
Your baby is perfickly happy
He won't need a bath any more
He'a splashing about with the angels above
Not lost but gone before

Dean

Yes, I have dappled in the Jap re-issues from Diverse in the form of Free, EC, Stevie Wonder & Marvin Gaye - they are all great with lovely covers.

Peter,

I don't know if its my imagination but comparing them with some Classic Records and Speakers Corner re-issues they do seem to have a quieter background. The Velvets LP is a terribly recorded but at the same time you just get the atomsphere of the late 60's flooding through.

Also Grahams has some as well.

Agreed Dean. Disraeli Gears is my favourite Cream album and one of my top ten of all time.
