DVD5's RGBHV or DVI output to an external scaler ?

Because Naim doesn't seem to launch any scaler upgrade I am going to buy an external upscaler.
It would be Lumagen VisionPro HDP (it has an SDI input if ever one day Naim decides to integrate that option on the DVD5 ?)
I already own 5 really great BNC cables for RGBHV and I really enjoyed the softness and depth of the DVD5's RGBHV analog output on a 32" VGA monitor (best image I've ever seen).
For the moment I use the DVI output (on my 52" LCD TV that has a bad upscale) and I find the image too hard and too flat.
For you who have external upscalers with DVD5s what would be the best DVD5 output to the upscaler ? DVI or RGBHV ?

I don't understand how an upscaler will pan out when say a blueray DVD player will do it for 100 quid?

Lumagen scaling vs. cheap BluRay player? Let me think...
And of course the Lumagen does considerably more than just scaling and, properly set up, it significantly improves picture quality, most noticeable if you're using a large display.
If I was using a DVD5 or similar I'd use the DVI output karyboue, but I can't understand why you aren't going for a BluRay player. The DVD5's somewhat obsolete unfortunately. Try one!

Hi mate, if you are going to use a Lumagen then I would use the scart to either 3 or 4 phono & feed the scaler with an interlaced signal, that's what I used until a short while ago & that was after trying the component & DVI options.

Intuitively one would perhaps choose the DVI output, however, on my Fujitsu Plasma I invariably prefer the analog component connection for picture quality. Admittedly the Naim RGB cable made a big difference here, especially it meant I could replace the BNC adaptors with proper BNC connection between player and screen.
The analog output on the DVD5 is really something very special. I would perhaps try both this and DVI and see which you prefer. It could well be analog!
However, bear in mind that the de-interlacing on the DVD5 is always on and cannot be defeated when you use either the component/RGB or DVI outputs (If I recall correctly, it was found that making this switchable degraded performance slightly - typical no-compromise approach!).
Any external scaler you use, must be able to accept this type of input. If you need an interlaced output then you must use the RGB on the SCART.

I vote for RGB, for PQ and compatibility; but note that you can not use RGBHV, Macrovision forbids that on many disks: so it must be RGB or components.
With most of the scalers I have tried, DVI or RBG doesn't make a clear difference as long as the scaler is located near the player (1 or 2 meter cable).
On my own setup, component is better: Runco 720P, 110" (2.80m) screen, Naim RGB 10m cable, all BNC, no adaptors. I have seen that even if H and V have no signal, the picture is better if they are connected on both ends: probably a better ground. And results are better with the Runco internal scaler than with any external I have tried, I have noticed the same thing in the past with a Sony projector.
