Chord Anthem 1m v 0.5m

Posted by: Nigel_Rav on 10 October 2003

It has been suggested to me to try a Chord Anthem DIN to DIN interconnect instead of the standard Naim jobbie. This is in a CDX2 based Naim system.

The same person who suggested this also expressed the view that the 1m was somehow better optimised for a Naim set-up than the 0.5m version.

This goes against what I previously believed that the shorter the interconnect, the better - since there will be less signal degradation.

If I do try the Anthem, any thoughts about 1m vs 0.5m?

I've got a .75m Anthem which I got cheap from the Bristol show.I must admit that I could not hear any difference from the 1m one I borrowed from my dealer, but like you I always thought shorter was better.Great cable though..

Hi Nigel,
I'm currently having a bit of fun with cables and posted my initial findings on:
http://forums.naim-audio.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=67019385&f=48019385&m=1141926976

I did speak to Chord and they didn't recommend any less than a 1 metre length for electrical reasons...

andy c!

I have a 1m Anthem, becuase that's the distance I need the cable to go. Itnis a good cable, clear, punchy, no treble glare.

I don't see how a longer cable is going to be better than a short one. Logic seems to imply the reverse?

Also with some cables ie Kimber which are specially designed to reject RFI etc. the longer the better( to reject RFI) but not necessarily better PRaT etc.
