UPnP control from PC with Uniti
Posted by: IainN on 04 August 2009
Does anyone know of a good PC/laptop based media controller for use with the Uniti?
I don't have an iTouch so that's out.
I've tried Twonky and the media manager lets you drag a song over the media output device (Uniti) and it then "pushes" the song out to the Uniti. Other songs can be dragged in the same way while he first one is playing, but they don't play automatically, they just appear in the queue.
Anyone got a better way?
Thanks

If your using s PC, use Microsoft media player. Import you music giles and you can choose what you want to play from the Uniti.

I'm trying to see if there's a way of controlling the music from a laptop so I don't have to look at the Uniti menu each time

Twonky with PlugPlayer works fine, provided that you are using tagged files.

OK then, foobar installed with columns and upnp plugins.
All seems normal, but I can't see how to select the Uniti as the "output" from foobar.
I guess I'm missing something obvious...

IainN,
Did you simply install the components? Or did you actually go through the guide step by step. If you follow ALL of the instructions you should be good to go.

foobar doesn't seem to work well at all, just not easy to use.
Have taken the plunge and paid for Allegro Media Server as it's the only one that works properly with itunes playlists for me.
Twonky was not too bad, but only played the first song in an itunes playlist.
Am currently trying the Cidero software as a controller.
