Some newlistens:
Dianogah: Millions of Brazilians Much in the same vein as their terrific "Battle Champions". No longer Albini produced, unfortunately, but still punchy and well put together.
The Microphones: Glow pt. 2 This came out at the end of last year, but I finally managed to receive a copy this week (after months of waiting). Anyway, this band is about as good as LoFi gets, imo.
Anti-Pop-Consortium: Arrythmia This continues my very tentative exploration of NYC rap. This "alternative" east coast stuff is trippy and catchy. Some very cool hifi effects (the track "pingpong", e.g.) too.
Hellacopters: High Visibility I love these guys. This and "Payin the Dues" should be in every rocker's collection.
The Blood Brothers: March on Electric Children (similar to this linked album). I must be getting old; I used to love noisy stuff, but this is hard going.
The Hives: Veni Vidi Vicious Two years old but new to me. Why people are so excited about the Strokes when there are bands like this around I don't get.
Unwound: Leaves Turn Inside You Also from last year (hope I'm not breaking the motw rules mentioning these). If all the good stuff of this 2-cd release were on one cd, it would be great. As it stands it's very mixed; some things really don't work and some really do.
Thanks for some good recommendations from people here a few weeks ago. Here's hoping for some more.
