Only 3rd party of their choosing. Think active, wireless, wifi speakers with LCD displays.

Totally non-Naim related ... but I've love a B&W Zeppelin with Airplay!

It sure would be nice if the HDX could receive AirPlay from the network rather than using the new AppleTV and having to use its (probably) jittery optical output into the DAC.

Couldn't Naim put Airplay support retroactively into f.x. the Uniti via a new firmware update?

Like Denon - See here

I wouldn't mind seeing this myself, not because I am a huge iTunes fan (I'm not), but because I could see the merits of this vis-a-vis streamed audio from Mac (or Windows) apps (YouTube comes to mind).

I also feel that this might be far more elegant than USB for similar tasks.

Some have already set things up for airplay - below from the Engadget site:

'Denon's admittedly pricey AVR-4311CI -- which was introduced in late April -- may very well end up being the first major product to gain iTunes AirPlay compatibility retroactively. Yeah, retroactively. According to an updated product listing, the AVR will see a "planned upgrade" in the fall of 2010 that will "provide Apple iTunes AirPlay compatibility [that will let you] stream your favorite music to the AVR-4311CI."

But how about sync of video/audio if they go through separate paths. Not that it would matter much on typical Youtube-content :-)

Perhaps the best solution is the USD99 AppleTV and connect the audio optical out to the DAC.

The DAC is becoming the new preamp. It looks like I will need inputs for the HDX, the MacMini/Evo (movies), Sonos (iRadio, Spotify), Cable-TV and AppleTV (for AirPlay).

At least it keeps the cost of HiLine's down to just the one from DAC --> 252 Big Grin
