Top ten al***s
Posted by: Philw307 on 29 March 2006
Hi, this topic has probably been started before, but I couldn't find anything too recent on the search, so lets start afresh and lets see your top 10 albums.
Here is mine to start -
1) Deacon Blue - Raintown
2) Radiohead - The Bends
3) Bjork - Debut
4) David Gray - White Ladder
5) Tears for Fears - The Seeds of Love
6) U2 - Achtung Baby
7) Van Morrison - The Best of (Vol 1)
8) The Verve - Urban Hymns
9) Keane - Hopes and Fears
10) Pearl Jam - Ten
Quite a varied selection, number 11 would of course be Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon, but unfortunately I did say it was a top 10 and not a top 11.

10. Sting - Ten summoner's tales (Played from track 2)
Now, see, track one (If I Ever Lose My Faith In You) is the one track on that album I couldn't live without ... one of Sting's best songs ever.
What's not to like?
Fred
Hi Fred,
Sorry for the delay in posting, but i just read this comment.
I'm a BIG Sting fan and love pretty much everything Sting does (and have all his/Police albums), but when i listen to that album i instinctively skip track one. I guess for me it feels like the odd one out from that album. I don't mind it on the compliations. Can't explain it really!! Maybe its something to do with the music video??!!
Watching him live was an amazing experience.
Incidentally, i have to thank you for pointing me to Eva Cassidy. Love her voice.
Take care,
Stan

Thelonious Monk - Monk's Music
Guy Clark - Old No.1
Lisa Ekdahl - 1st album
Kathleen Ferrier - Sacred arias by Bach & Handel

Fitzwilliam Quartet playing Shostakovich 8 & 15
The Clash - London Calling
Milt Jackson - Memories of Thelonious Sphere Monk
Allman Brothers live at the Filmore East

Music is like walking in a big city: you meet all.
That's the way i like it.
People have their dopes to get stoned on, i get stoned on music.
And i'm hungry and more hungry again!
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Hi Phil!
I don't like lists.
And don't like artists to be closed into a certain range.
I think that radios lists are a fake and people who buy records following those lists don't like music but follow the market.
So i don't have a list of favourites but i do like all the records i have.
Most of all i like all the records that i don't have!

I am with Gianluigi on this. The only lists I do are grocery lists, and even those are always incomplete. I often forget to put something on the list, or change my mind at the store and get something that was not on the list...
Even if I could put together a list of top 10 albums (which I feel it is quite impossible to do), I know that this list would vary a lot, depending on my moods and the day that I wouild be asked to compile it.
One thing that would not change about my lists: they would always include works of Bach and of Bill Evans.
Regards
Haim

Roft Le Triste,
Does your obssession mean:
That your favourite film is Schindler's List?
That your favourite composer is Franz Joseph Lis(z)t?
At list I am trying to be serious.
Regards,
Haim

We should start a new discussion:
"What are you list-ening to right now?"

Thanks, I'll check them out.
Footnote: In one of those 'might have been' episodes, many years ago my late aunt offered my wife and me a house just up the road from what is now Probe Plus. We turned down her kind offer, as Mrs H is a confirmed Southerner, but in retrospect it might have been a good idea to have accepted!
