My wife has recently bought one of these...sell out!

Is there some way that via wifi she can access the NAS in our network without hooking up via PC?

If you've got a wireless network then just log on to that. There is a settings icon on the iPhone - just select that and turn the wireless connection on. It will search for all available wireless networks. When it has found yours (assuming you've got one), just type in the password and hey presto, you're hooked up.

I got one last week and am shocked by how poor the signal reception is (even without touching the sides). I would take it back, but assume that I would still be locked into the contract.
So I'm probably stuck with it.
Late to this iPhone game; any recommended apps?

You normally have 2 weeks to return and reset your contract.

Shame you are having issues, I absoluty love mine. Whats type of aps are you after?

My top apps are
facebook
hipstamatic (camera app)
spotify
copilot
memory maps
angry birds
gta
natwest bank
redlazer (barcode reader and price comparasion)

and of course catchup tv for live tv on the go over 3g

What are you trying to access on your nas? If it music you could use plugplayer assuming you have upnp. Or for general files dropbox...but it is folder specific.

Get a decent android handset - similar functionality and no 'antenna-gate', plus you're not tied to Apple's restrictive business practices!

Restrictive? Naa, jailbreaking cures that.

Or even run Openiboot and run Android on your iPhone.

Yep, music files. I was expecting something akin to PC 'my computer' for example, so she could just go in and play direct like I would on wireless PC?!?!

As Peter says, though a powerful piece of kit you are still well and truely in phone terroitory. It's really designed to be sync'd and use as a portable standalone device.
