AV2 use an input for unity gain ?

Hi there,

Different question here on unity gain. I'd like to feed a Linn DS with a variable volume input into a unity gain input on the AV2.

Now, I know you can have Naim pre-amps set for a unity gain input with the AV2 then feding in to them, but I've not heard of it the other way around.

Is this something the AV2 can be setup to do ?

Thanks,
Roy.

Hi Roy - its been some time since I owned an AV2 but from memory, I believe there is NO bypass feature. That said, you could always hook up the Linn DS to your multi-channel analog inputs which acts as a bypass as all processing is disabled aside from your speaker trim levels.

Hope that helps.

I believe the analogue inputs have a direct mode, though this shuts down everything but the volume, this is you best bet.

Wonder which actually has a better preamp section? Which DS are you using?

I forgot about those. I'll dig out some cabling and give it a go.

I'm using an Akurate DS just now. Quite nice bit of kit. Only downside is that there is no Linn developed Apple control app, so you have to depend on other developers ensuring their apps work correctly and keep up to date.

I am interested what exactly is happening using the AV2 as the processor and driving my 32.5 to operate front L and R.

Is the AV2 acting as a preamp and driving through my 32.5 as a 'second' pre-amp ?

What does a unity gain input do on a more modern preamp ? Does the unity gain simply act as pass through to power amps ?
